kiswa is glad to announce our new stockist - the Design Centre Tasmania. Rye Dunsmuir, the Retail Gallery Manager, came and visited us on his recent trip South and, after a short meeting, left with a swag of kiswa products. We would like to thank Rye and the Design Centre for their support and hope that this is the start of a successful relationship. They were also kind enough to send us some photos of the kiswa display, which we think looks great.

Last weekend kiswa attended one of designedobjectstasmania's Professional Development Workshop Seminars on Entrepreneurship and Branding hosted by Abi Crompton of Third Draw Down. We were given a history of Abi's success and a rundown of some of her favorite objects' which she is currently selling, including what she sees as their prominent design features. She was kind enough to give us some advice on how to market, what we are now calling, our multipurpose pencil case (as everyone loves them but responds "its a pity, I don't use pencils any more" or "their too nice for pencils"). We'll keep you posted on the developments. We would like to thank DOT for organising the workshop and Abi for her expertise and advice.

After having almost three months off, kiswa is back. We began October '10 with a huge weekend and two markets. We had a glorious Saturday @ Salamanca.

And then continued on Sunday @ The Market:

Its good to be back doing the markets and we hope that this is the beginning of a good spring and an excellent summer for Tasmania's markets.

Objects of Design - New Gallery Opening

The Objects of Design Exhibition opened at the New Gallery, Launceston. By all accounts it is a great show. For all who have reported back, thank you for you support and encouragement.

It's on again! The designed; made market is on Sunday 6th December at the IXL courtyard.

The designed; made market has always been a great day out to view some of Tasmania's finest furniture, jewelry, and textile design. The benefit being that you can purchase these items straight from the makers. Just so you know where to go:

We at kiswa would like to thank everyone who attended The Market, Nov 15, for their support, feedback, and general good spirits. We had a great time and hope that you did too.

Our tea towels (above) are doing really well and the introduction of our new badges (below) has been great for our product mix. From the way they sold and everyone's responses, you all seem to be happy with these new products.

A big thank you to all the behind the scenes workers who can together to set up The Market and create a great market atmosphere.

New kiswa Badges

Over the past few months we at kiswa have been toying with ways to improve and expand our product range. Some ideas have worked and other we are continuing to workshop. However, we are pleased to share our new products.

kiswa badges: while making a range of larger products, we have noticed that a range of smaller kiswa products has been missing. As a result we have started producing a range of 43mm badges. As can be seen, all our badges carry a piece of our distinctly kiswa cloth.

To make the kiswa badges an even better gift, we package them in a kiswa printed envelope.

We are pleased with our new range of badges and we hope that you enjoy them too.

New Products After Our Break

As some will have noticed, we at kiswa have had a short break from the market scene over the last month. However, this in no way meant that we had time off. We have been busy developing some new product ranges.

We present our new tea towel range. All our hand screen printed tea towels are 100% made in Tasmania, are approximately 50cm*70cm, and are made of a 50/50 cotton linen blend.

Also, for the upcoming gifting season we have some hand printed wrapping paper. We have printed on 100% recycled paper and each sheet is approximately 50cm*70cm.

Salamanca

As many of you would be aware now, kiswa is at the Salamanca markets! Being a casual store we move around the market, so you will have to keep an eye out for us. So far things have been going well considering that it is the slow (and cold) time of the market. If want to know if we will be there next week, just sent us an email and we can let you know where we are likely to be.

Farewell To Miss Hawaii

We at kiswa would like to say a fond farewell to Miss Hawaii. It has been a pleasure working with her, printing many of clothes, and selling our kiswa products at her store. While we will miss the doors of Miss Hawaii being open, we will keep the friendship that we have established.

Kiswa in December

Kiswa will be at the Designed; Made makers MARKET on Sunday the 7th of December. The market is to be held in the IXL courtyard from 9am to 4pm. The market will feature local makers of furniture, jewellery, textiles, homewares and accessories.

Kiswa will also be having a stall at the odd and even makers MARKET to be held once again at the Peacock Theatre, Salamanca Art Centre. The market will be full of local goodies and last minute gifts for xmas, to be held on the 20th of December.

We do hope to see you there. We have printed some bags and stickers and will provide all purchases with free gift wrapping.
